Directions

The Greek island of Mykonos is situated in the centre of the Aegean Sea 150 kilometres east of Athens and is part of the group of islands known as the Cyclades. Although it is the most famous of this group it is actually the smallest, covering an area of about 90 square kilometres.
The island can be reached by air from Athens. If you prefer to travel by ship, you have a choice of ferries, flying dolphins, hydrofoils, or catamarans that leave from Piraeus and Rafina. The distance from Piraeus is 94 nautical miles and from Rafina 71 nautical miles. The trip by a "normal speed" ferry from Piraeus takes about 6 hours, while the respective one from Rafina takes about 5 hours, but there is a variety of faster vessels (high-speed ferries) to choose if you want to cut that time to almost the half.
